11-21-24 THOUGHTS
Eight short verses of beautiful encouragement this morning! My NASB says at the beginning “« A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. » ”The very location implies that these were not good times for David. Yet there is GOOD HEART in the words. He says “My soul is satisfied.” He “offers praises with joyful lips”. Search carefully for the other word jewels that David says causes “My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You...” I love the “night meditations” that are so familiar in the psalms. May we “sing for joy” in the “shadow of God’s wings.”
Ps 63:1-8 O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. 3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. 4 So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. 5 My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. 6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, 7 For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. 8 My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
My Prayer:
Uphold us, O Father. May our souls cling to You. Help us to see Your power and glory in every scene that passes before us. Give us powerful yearning and thirsting for You. Teach us contentment and satisfaction. We bask in Your loving kindness, O God, and we thank You for the ways You have treated us for all time. You are to be praised in all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
